Sandra L. Bertholf Shortman serves as Assistant Professor and Associate Program Director of the Veterinary Technology Program within Mercy College's School of Health and Natural Sciences. A full-time faculty member and Mercy College alumna, she maintains an office in MH 327 and can be contacted via sbertholf@mercy.edu or (914) 674-7531.
Her academic credentials include a Master of Science (MS) degree and Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) certification.
Professor Bertholf specializes in veterinary technology education with emphasis on translating theoretical knowledge into practical clinical applications. Her research focuses on assessment methodologies for veterinary student competencies, particularly in applied clinical nursing scenarios and patient care modalities. She integrates real-world veterinary case studies into her pedagogy to develop students' diagnostic and treatment planning skills.
As Associate Program Director, she leads curriculum development and program administration for the Veterinary Technology Program, ensuring alignment with industry standards and educational outcomes.
