Sandeep Mishra is an Associate Professor of Marketing and Consumer Studies and Director of the Adaptive Ventures Lab at the University of Guelph's Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics. His research focuses on judgment and decision-making under conditions of risk and uncertainty, integrating evolutionary theory and social cognition. He explores how personality traits, motivation, and social comparisons influence risk-taking behaviors, particularly in competitive environments.
Dr. Mishra teaches undergraduate, graduate, and executive-level courses in negotiation, decision-making, and artificial intelligence. His work examines the intersection of relative deprivation, personality, and risk assessment, with applications to gambling behavior, mental health, and organizational resilience.
His research has been published in journals such as Proceedings of the Royal Society B and International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health. Key themes include the uncertainty-risk paradox, psychological resilience in public safety personnel, and the impact of social comparison on decision-making.
He advises the Adaptive Ventures Lab, which investigates evolutionary frameworks for understanding human behavior in uncertain contexts. His interdisciplinary approach bridges psychology, economics, and management science, with contributions to both theoretical and applied domains.
