Paul Windschitl is a Professor and Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at the University of Iowa. His research focuses on judgment and decision-making biases, particularly optimism and pessimism in health-related contexts, social comparison processes, and decision-making under uncertainty.
His research spans cognitive psychology, social psychology, and health psychology, examining how desirability of outcomes influences risk perception and preparatory behaviors. Recent work explores differences between predictive judgments and likelihood assessments, as well as ambiguity processing in medical decision-making.
