Sanaa Alwidian is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical, Computer and Software Engineering at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (Ontario Tech), starting July 2021. Previously, she was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Université de Montréal’s Department of Computer Science and Operations Research, working in the GEODES Software Engineering Research Group under Michalis Famelis. Her research focuses on software engineering solutions through modeling and analysis, drawing from disciplines like model-based engineering, formal abstractions, and category theory.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Computer Science, University of Ottawa (2020)
- Master’s in Computer Science, Jordan University of Science and Technology (2009)
- Bachelor’s in Computer Information Systems, Jordan University of Science and Technology (2007)
Research interests include Software Engineering, Goal-oriented Requirements Engineering, Model-based System Engineering, Mobile Ad hoc Networks, Cloud Computing, and Natural Language Processing. Her work emphasizes automation and formal methods to address software engineering challenges.
Professional experience includes roles as a Research/Teaching Assistant at the University of Ottawa (2015–2019) and researcher with the Cyberjustice project. She has extensive teaching experience across multiple institutions.
