Samuel N. Shields is a Lecturer at the Geisel School of Medicine and an Adjunct Professor at the Tuck School of Business, both at Dartmouth College. He also serves as the System Vice President of Strategy & Regional Operations for Dartmouth Health, where he leads strategic planning, partnerships, and telehealth initiatives.
Shields holds certifications as a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality and a Six Sigma Black Belt from the American Society for Quality (ASQ). He earned a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, an MBA from Texas A&M University, and an MHCDS in Healthcare Delivery Science from Dartmouth College.
Research Interests: His work spans health policy, healthcare management, strategic operations, and nanotechnology applications. At Dartmouth Health, he focuses on system integration, telehealth, and operational excellence, aligning with his industry background in Specialty Chemical and Aerospace sectors.
Leadership and Innovation: Shields is a member of the Value Institute leadership team, driving quality, safety, and patient experience improvements. He holds a U.S. patent for nanotechnology in inkjet printing and serves on the boards of New Hampshire PBS, Valley Regional Hospital, and New London Hospital.
