Prof. Samuel Maxwell Kern Alexander is a full Professor of International and European Financial Law and holds the Chair of Law and Finance at the University of Zurich's Faculty of Law. He leads the University of Zurich Competence Center for Sustainability: Finance, Law, Science and the Humanities, focusing on interdisciplinary research and teaching in sustainable finance. His roles include Co-Director of the Oxford Bank Governance Programme and participation in high-level EU supervisory initiatives.
Research interests center on financial regulation, sustainable finance, banking law, and EU economic governance. Notable projects include analyzing ECB policy post-COVID-19, digital asset legal frameworks, and climate risk integration in banking regulation.
