Samuel Matthias Meier-Menches is an Associate Professor at the University of Vienna's Faculty of Chemistry, affiliated with the Institute of Analytical Chemistry, Joint Metabolome Facility, and Institute of Inorganic Chemistry. He leads two active research projects: 'Pathway mapping of metal-containing antitumor agents' (2024–2028) and 'The selective enrichment of the selenoproteome' (2020–2025). His work contributes to Sustainable Development Goals related to health and innovation. Research focuses on metallomics, anticancer therapeutics, and clinical metabolomics with 118+ peer-reviewed publications since 2010.
Key research interests include ruthenium chemistry for antiproliferative agents, mass spectrometry applications in clinical diagnostics, and mechanistic studies of cancer resistance. Recent work highlights proteomic profiling of tumor samples and pharmacodynamic analysis of sweat chemistry in breast cancer patients.
Recipient of prestigious awards including the ChemBio Talents 2022/23 and Vienna City Science Award 2022. His research bridges analytical chemistry with clinical applications in oncology and precision medicine.
