Samuel Huron is an Associate Professor of Design at Télécom Paris, affiliated with the Interdisciplinary Institute of Innovation (i3) and the Economic and Social Sciences (SES) department. His research focuses on data physicalization, human-computer interaction, and sustainable design. He co-leads the Master 2 Research in Design and the Specialized Master in Innovation & Entrepreneurship programs. His work bridges design, computer science, and social sciences, emphasizing collaboration across disciplines.
Education: PhD in Computer Science (Paris Saclay University, 2014), postdoctoral research at the University of Calgary, and industrial design experience in digital agencies. Prior academic roles include leading design at the Pompidou Center’s research institute.
Research interests include tangible visualization, VR/AR ethics, and participatory design. His recent publications address memory manipulation in XR, safety in VR, and sustainable bio-based interfaces. He co-authored the book *Making with Data* and has received the 2015 IEEE Best Thesis Award.
Awards include the IEEE VGTC Doctoral Thesis Prize for his work on Constructive Visualization. His labs include the Interact, Diva HCI, and Co-Design teams, exploring topics like data physicalization and interactive systems.
