Samuel Baron is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Philosophy at The University of Western Australia (School of Humanities). His research focuses on the nature of time, mathematics, and philosophy itself. He holds a PhD from the University of Sydney’s Centre for Time. He has contributed to journals like the Journal of Philosophy and Philosophical Studies. His teaching emphasizes critical thinking and interdisciplinary engagement, including courses on argumentation, science communication, and philosophical concepts of time travel.
Baron’s expertise includes metaphysics, philosophy of science, and metaphilosophy. His work bridges philosophy of time and mathematics with broader metaphysical questions. He has led two major grants: 'Explanation in Science and Metaphysics: Bridging the Gap' (2015) and 'A World Without Time: Timelessness in Physics and Metaphysics' (2018–2021), funded by ARC. His research addresses topics like truth-making, presentism, and the coherence of quantum gravity theories.
Baron’s publications explore themes such as ontological commitment, explanatory impossibility, and the structure of metaphysical systems. His work often engages with contemporary debates in analytic philosophy, seeking to clarify foundational concepts while maintaining relevance to scientific discourse.
