Sampson Dimitrios

Professor Sampson Dimitrios is a faculty member at the University of Piraeus's Department of Digital Systems, part of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technologies. He has held academic roles since 2001, including professorships and research leadership positions at institutions like Curtin University (Australia) and the University of Tartu (Estonia). His research focuses on digital systems for education, educational technology, and smart learning environments.

Education: BEng in Electrical Engineering from Democritus University of Thrace (1989), PhD in Electronic Systems Engineering from the University of Essex, UK (1995).

Research interests include AI-driven learning, flipped classrooms, educational data analytics, and inclusive technology. He has authored over 345 publications, edited 19 books, and developed the edX MOOC 'Analytics for the Classroom Teacher,' with 25,000+ participants across 180 countries. His work on the EU-funded Learn2Analyse project promotes educational data literacy globally.

Awards include the IEEE Distinguished Service Award (2012), Golden Core Member (2013), and the Golden Nikola Tesla Chain Award (2018). He has supervised over 100 postgraduate students and 75 undergraduate theses, and led 70+ research projects. As Editor-in-Chief of the Educational Technology and Society Journal, he has shaped academic discourse in his field.
