Sampath Kumar serves as Professor of Marketing and Chair of Marketing & Management at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay's Austin E. Cofrin School of Business. He concurrently leads the MS in Management and MS in Data Science programs, demonstrating significant administrative leadership within the Business Administration department.
His educational background includes a Ph.D. in Marketing from the University of Memphis (2008), M.Phil in Marketing from Alagappa University (2011), MBA in Marketing and Human Resources from Bharathiar University (1996), and B.Com in Accounting from Bharathiar University, India (1993). Prior to academia, he gained industry experience in sales and marketing with India Cements Ltd and paper packaging companies.
Dr. Kumar's research focuses on e-services, nonprofit marketing, sustainability, supply chain management, and advertising. His recent publications reveal interdisciplinary engagement across marketing, healthcare, and engineering domains, with notable contributions to electronic word-of-mouth dynamics in luxury markets and strategic flexibility frameworks for small enterprises. This cross-disciplinary approach extends into health-related topics through community service activities including speeches on health and wellness at medical conferences in India.
His scholarly impact is evidenced by publications in the Journal of Services Marketing, Journal of Current Issues and Research in Advertising, and International Journal of Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Marketing, along with a best paper award at the Marketing Management Association conference's supply chain track.
As an active academic leader, Dr. Kumar chairs university committees, serves as journal reviewer and board member, and directs graduate programs while teaching undergraduate courses in introductory marketing and consumer behavior alongside graduate-level instruction. His community involvement includes Leadership Green Bay (Class of 2011) and health advocacy initiatives.
