Samit Joshi is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Infectious Diseases at the Yale School of Medicine. His clinical practice includes roles as a Clinical Instructor at Yale School of Medicine / VAMC (West Haven) and a Consultant at Waterbury Hospital. He holds dual degrees of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) and Master of Public Health (MPH), with a BA in Biology from the University of Minnesota. His research focuses on immunosenescence in HIV infection, oral microbiome-pneumonia links, and innate immune dysfunction in aging.
Education includes a DO/MPH from Des Moines University (2005), followed by residency and fellowship training at Yale School of Medicine (2008–2012). His translational research bridges clinical medicine and immunology, with notable collaborations on HIV drug efficacy, synapse formation genetics, and age-related immune dysregulation.
Research interests span infectious disease pathogenesis, antimicrobial resistance, and vaccine efficacy in vulnerable populations. Awards include the Infectious Diseases Society of America Travel Award (2011) and Yale’s Brackett Resident Teaching Award (2008). His work integrates clinical care with translational studies on host-pathogen interactions and public health implications of aging populations.
