Samira Dorri is a VR Postdoc Fellow at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, working under Assoc. Prof. Yasmine Sassa. Her research focuses on topological chiral spin configurations in low-dimensional magnets, interface engineering of multilayers, and the development of superlattice neutron supermirrors for advanced neutron optics. She earned her PhD in Materials Science from Linköping University in December 2024, where she pioneered techniques for growing heteroepitaxial superlattices via magnetron sputtering.
Education:
- PhD in Materials Science (Linköping University, 2024)
- MSc in Thin Film Physics (Jens Birch Group, Linköping University)
Research Interests: Exploring novel magnetic skyrmion systems, atomic-scale interface engineering, superlattice synthesis for neutron supermirrors, and their applications in memory devices and quantum computing. Her work integrates neutron reflectometry, GISANS/GISAXS, and computational modeling to study material properties at the atomic level.
Grants & Awards:
- 10 grants from SVCF, KVA, IUVSTA, and others
- Medard W. Welch Award (IUVSTA)
- VR Postdoc Fellowship
Facility Experience: Led 5 beamtime proposals at neutron/synchrotron facilities (PSI, ILL, ISIS, J-PARC). Active in Swedish Neutron Graduate School (SwedNess) and served as student representative for Swedish Neutron Scattering Society (2023–2025).
Technical Expertise: Ion-assisted magnetron sputtering, neutron reflectometry, TEM/XRD analysis, and simulation tools (GenX, BornAgain).
