Samira Azarin is an Associate Professor and Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science at the University of Minnesota's College of Science and Engineering. Her research integrates biomaterials, cellular engineering, and stem cell biology to address critical challenges in cancer treatment and neurological disorders.
Her primary research focuses include:
- Mechanisms of tumor progression and metastatic cancer treatment
- Biomanufacturing of natural killer (NK) cells for allogeneic cancer immunotherapy
- Stem cell-derived models of blood-brain barrier and intestinal epithelial barriers
- Cellular dormancy mechanisms and therapeutic applications
