Samir Shawgy Ayoub is a Senior Lecturer in Pharmacology at the University of East London (UEL), affiliated with the Department of Bioscience in the School of Health Sport and Bioscience. He holds leadership roles in pharmacology modules and actively promotes the field within further education. His academic journey includes a PhD from the William Harvey Research Institute, followed by a Leverhulme Trust-funded Early Career Fellowship and postdoctoral work at Brigham Young University and Imperial College London.
Dr. Ayoub's research focuses on paracetamol mechanisms, cyclooxygenase variants, inflammation resolution, and macrophage polarization. Recent work explores alcohol addiction behaviors in Drosophila. He has secured multiple grants, including £38,961 from the Leverhulme Trust and UEL-funded projects on pharmacology perception and drug research.
- Teaching: Leads modules in Fundamental Pharmacology, Drug Discovery, and Neuropsychopharmacology across UEL's BSc Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Science, and Medical Physiology programs.
