Samir El-Gazzar is the KPMG Professor of Accounting at Pace University's Lubin School of Business. He previously held academic positions at Columbia University, Rutgers, Baruch College, and Tanta University. His research focuses on capital-market-based accounting, financial contracting, and regulatory compliance. He teaches courses in financial reporting, accounting theory, and doctoral seminars. Dr. El-Gazzar holds a PhD in Accounting from Baruch College-CUNY, an MPhil from CUNY, an MBA from Baruch, and an MS in Accounting from Cairo University.
His research interests encompass financial reporting quality, regulatory frameworks, and corporate financial practices. He has published widely in top journals like the Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting and Economics, and Accounting Horizons. His work often examines cross-border compliance, valuation methodologies, and the impact of disclosure practices on markets.
Dr. El-Gazzar has served on Pace University's audit committee and consults on SEC reconciliation, financial contracting, and data mining. His publications reflect a focus on global accounting standards, regulatory challenges in multinational firms, and the interplay between financial reporting and market outcomes.
