Richard Cazier is an Associate Professor of Accounting at the University of North Texas’s Department of Accounting within the College of Business. He holds a PhD from the University of Iowa and undergraduate/master’s degrees from Brigham Young University. Previously, he taught at Texas Christian University, the University of Michigan (as a visiting professor), and the University of Texas at El Paso.
His research focuses on financial market regulation, corporate disclosure practices, and securities litigation risk. Key interests include regulatory oversight of SEC filers, the impact of litigation on non-GAAP reporting, and the information content of legal documents. He teaches advanced accounting, accounting-based valuation for Master’s students, and a capital markets seminar for PhD students.
Dr. Cazier’s courses emphasize bridging academic theory with real-world applications, such as valuation techniques for businesses and analysis of SEC regulations. His work often explores how corporate disclosures and regulatory environments influence financial reporting and legal outcomes. Outside academia, he maintains an active lifestyle and dedicates time to family and community service.
