Professor Sami S. Brandt holds a position at the IT University of Copenhagen's Computer Science Department, specializing in audio-visual computing and mixed reality. His research bridges music, acoustics, and computational imaging, driven by early passions for music and digital modeling. He completed his doctoral studies at Helsinki University of Technology, focusing on 3D imaging in electron microscopy.
Education:
- Engineering Physics and Mathematics (with a focus on information science and acoustics)
- Doctoral Degree in 2002 from Helsinki University of Technology
Research Interests: Professor Brandt’s work spans mathematical modeling of signals and images, with applications in biomedical imaging and cultural accessibility. His current XTREME project (collaborating with institutions like MUNCH Museum) develops mixed reality technology to democratize access to performing arts and concerts. He emphasizes social inclusivity for disabled individuals and remote collaboration.
Labs/Teams: Leading an audio lab at ITU to revive and advance audio modeling research, aligning with his interdisciplinary approach to technology and culture.
