معرفی
Dr. Sameer Nagpal is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at the Yale School of Medicine. He specializes in interventional cardiology with a focus on peripheral vascular interventions, particularly treating peripheral artery disease (PAD). His research explores innovative treatments like the VASCADE closure device and intravascular lithotripsy, emphasizing outcomes in diabetic and chronically ill patients.
Education & Training:
- B.A. Neuroscience, Amherst College (2006)
- M.D., Emory University School of Medicine (2011)
- Internal Medicine Residency and Chief Medicine Residency, Yale New Haven Hospital (2014–2015)
- Cardiology, Peripheral Vascular, and Interventional Cardiology Fellowships, Yale School of Medicine (2018–2019)
Research Interests: Dr. Nagpal investigates advanced therapies for PAD, including device efficacy, sex-specific outcomes, and comorbidity management. He prioritizes translational research to improve limb salvage and reduce amputations in high-risk populations.
Key Contributions:
- Co-led a meta-analysis on diabetes and PAD revascularization outcomes (2025).
- Published pivotal work on intravascular lithotripsy for calcified PAD (2023–2024).
- Showed no major differences between VASCADE and manual compression in femoral artery disease (Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, 2022).
Awards & Recognition:
- 2nd place for a poster presentation on critical limb ischemia (ACC CT Chapter, 2021).
Clinical & Academic Roles: Dr. Nagpal actively contributes to the Interventional Cardiology Program and VAMOS Lab, mentoring residents and fellows. He participates in national peer review for journals like the Journal of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions.
