Samara Rice is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at SUNY Oswego. Her research focuses on quantitative methodology applied to health behavior change mechanisms, including instrument development for alcohol use disorders and intimate partner violence screening. She teaches advanced statistics courses (PSY 280, PSY 480) and maintains office hours via Zoom.
Education includes a BA/MS/PhD in Quantitative Psychology from University of New Mexico (2006-2013) followed by postdoctoral training at the Research Institute on Addictions (2013-2016). Current research projects involve psychometric evaluation of drinking ambivalence measures and development of brief IPV perpetration screeners.
Her work bridges statistical methodology with real-world health applications, emphasizing latent variable modeling techniques to understand problematic behavior mechanisms in college populations and clinical settings.
