Matthew Dykas is a Professor of Psychology and Director of Child Advocacy Studies at SUNY Oswego. His research focuses on children's and adolescents' social/emotional development, particularly cognitive representations in relationships and their connections to social behavior. He directs Prevention Support Partners and the Central New York Attachment Network, emphasizing applied developmental psychology.
Education includes a BA from Fairfield University (2000), MA/PhD in Developmental Psychology from the University of Maryland (2003/2006), and a postdoc in Family Violence at the University of New Hampshire (2007).
Research interests span attachment theory, risk behaviors in adolescents, environmental toxin impacts on child development, and prevention science. His work integrates cognitive, behavioral, and contextual factors influencing youth development. He teaches courses on developmental psychology, prevention science, and research methods.
