Samantha McCoy is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Interior Architecture and Design at Florida State University’s College of Fine Arts. She also serves as the Senior Artist Programs Manager and Curator at the Thomasville Center for the Arts, overseeing exhibitions and curating Wall Space, a gallery supporting emerging artists. Her artistic practice focuses on Florida’s natural and hyperreal landscapes, exploring contradictions between tourism-driven imagery and ecological realities. McCoy holds a BFA from the University of Central Florida and an MFA from Florida State University.
Her research emphasizes the 'enchantment and disenchantment' of Florida’s environment, blending painting, collage, and ephemera to critique constructed landscapes. Notable exhibitions include solo shows at Venvi Art Gallery (2024) and group showcases at the Gadsden Art Center and Thomasville Center for the Arts. Awards include the 2023 Plein Air Winner at St. Mark’s Wildlife Refuge and multiple FSU Excellence in the Visual Arts awards.
M McCoy teaches Design Foundations, Drawing, and Painting courses, while her professional roles include artist talks, workshops, and mural commissions. She is a member of the National Association for Interpretation and actively contributes to public art initiatives across Florida.
