Samantha Bassler is a Part-Time Lecturer in Arts, Culture and Media at Rutgers University, where she has taught music history since 2012. She holds degrees from Nyack College, Merton College (University of Oxford), Rutgers University, and the Open University. Professionally trained as a church musician, musicologist, music theorist, and private music instructor, she also owns Stellar Music Space in Brooklyn, NYC, and serves as organist and music director at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Flatbush. Her research bridges musicology, disability studies, and gender studies.

Her research focuses on music in early modern England, particularly intersections of music, disability, and gender, as well as the reception history of early English music in the 18th and 19th centuries. She has contributed to journals like Music Theory Online, postmedieval, and Voices: A World Forum for Music Therapy, and co-edited the book Music, Myth, and Story in Medieval and Early Modern Culture (Boydell & Brewer Press, 2019).
As an educator, Samantha teaches piano, voice, and strings at her private music school and offers yoga certification. She is also a disability rights advocate, integrating her academic and professional work into activism.
