Samantha Anne Lindgren

Samantha Anne Lindgren is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Education Policy, Organization and Leadership at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She holds affiliations with the Grainger College of Engineering's Agriculture and Biological Engineering department, Technology Entrepreneurship Center, and the Women and Gender in Global Perspectives program.

Her research focuses on youth-driven sustainability education, particularly in household energy systems and sustainable agriculture. Domestically, she studies environmental education equity; internationally, she investigates efficient cookstove adoption and agricultural practices in resource-limited regions. Lindgren's work emphasizes youth agency in fostering community resilience through educational interventions.

Her recent publications address agrotechnology's role in women's empowerment, smallholder entrepreneurship in Bangladesh, electric cooking policy in Namibia, engineering ethics pedagogy, and youth engagement in Cambodian agriculture. She collaborates globally on projects linking education, technology, and socioecological systems.

Affiliated with multiple interdisciplinary centers, Lindgren's work bridges education, engineering, and gender studies. She holds a PhD in Agricultural and Biological Engineering from UIUC, an M.Ed. in Physics Teaching & Learning, and a B.S. in Astrophysics, all from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.
