Sam Yates Meier

Sam Yates Meier is a Lecturer and Visual Communication Design Program Director at the University of Kansas (KU). They also serve as a senior designer at Hallmark's Global Trends and Innovation Studio in Kansas City and pursue an M.A. in African-American Studies at KU, focusing on Black Art and Design. Their professional experience spans in-house media production (Kansas City PBS), brand identity (Beveridge Seay), and experiential design (Dimensional Innovations).

Research interests emphasize intersections of design practice with cultural identity, advocacy, and community engagement. Awards include recognition from GDUSA, AIGA, and American Illustration. They co-own Yup Yup Design studio with their partner and contribute to local design communities through AIGA Kansas City (former President).
