Professor Sam Wilson serves as a Principal Investigator at the Cambridge Institute of Therapeutic Immunology and Infectious Disease (CITIID) within the Department of Medicine at the University of Cambridge, and is an active member of the Cambridge Immunology Network (a FOCIS Centre of Excellence).
His research spans Immunology, Virology, and Infectious Diseases with concentrated expertise in Interferon-Stimulated Genes (ISGs), Microbial Pathogenesis, Pandemic Emergence, Viruses, and Zoonosis. He develops critical resources including the MRC PPU & CVR Coronavirus Toolkit and maintains the ISG Database, addressing molecular mechanisms of viral immune evasion and pandemic preparedness.
Basing his work at the Jeffrey Cheah Biomedical Centre on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, Professor Wilson's research focuses on host-pathogen interactions during viral infections, particularly examining interferon responses to emerging zoonotic threats and pandemic pathogens through both experimental and computational approaches.
