Sam Schild

Sam Schild, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Pediatric Otolaryngology at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital within the Department of Surgery at Yale School of Medicine. He specializes in compassionate, evidence-based care for pediatric airway disorders, hearing loss, congenital neck masses, and refractory sleep apnea. Dr. Schild is a member of the Aerodigestive, Craniofacial, and Cochlear Implant teams at Yale. His clinical and research interests focus on optimizing outcomes for children with complex airway challenges and improving diagnostic approaches for pediatric ENT conditions.

Dr. Schild earned his BA in Biological Sciences from Cornell University (2012) and his MD from Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (2017), graduating with Alpha Omega Alpha honors. He completed residency in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at SUNY Downstate Medical Center (2022) and a fellowship in Complex Pediatric Otolaryngology at Children’s National Medical Center (2023). Board certified in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery since 2023, he is actively involved with the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology (ASPO) and the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.

His research spans clinical outcomes in pediatric airway management, hearing screening protocols, and surgical techniques for congenital anomalies. Recent studies include evaluating sleep apnea in infants and the impact of airway interventions on myringotomy requirements in Robin Sequence patients. He has authored over 15 peer-reviewed publications and contributed to systematic reviews on sialorrhea management and laryngeal clefts.

Dr. Schild’s practice emphasizes family-centered care, ensuring patients and caregivers receive comprehensive evidence-based recommendations. He balances clinical work with academic contributions, mentoring trainees, and advancing multidisciplinary care models for complex pediatric ENT cases.
