Sam Rowe is a Senior Lecturer in Ruminant Medicine at the Sydney School of Veterinary Science, University of Sydney. He holds a PhD in mastitis epidemiology from the University of Minnesota and is a Fellow of the Australia and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in Epidemiology. His research focuses on enhancing livestock health through epidemiology, data science, and microbiology, addressing challenges in dairy production and antibiotic stewardship. Key awards include the 2023 Outstanding Early Career Teaching and 2023 Excellence in Research awards from the University of Sydney.
Current projects include studies on selective dry cow therapy, mastitis diagnostics, and bedding material microbiology. He coordinates the Unit of Study VETS6406 Large Animal Clinics B and is a member of the Sydney Institute of Agriculture. Notable grants include the 2025 ADD DAIRY project on antibiotic use dynamics in dairy farming.
Publications emphasize practical solutions for farmers, such as optimizing mastitis treatment algorithms and evaluating point-of-care tests. His interdisciplinary work bridges clinical practice, research, and industry collaboration to ensure sustainable livestock management.
