Sam Redgate is a Lecturer at Northumbria University since January 2023, transitioning from a career in public health and social care commissioning. His research focuses on the design, implementation, and evaluation of interventions addressing health inequalities, particularly for children and young people. He employs realist and complex systems approaches, emphasizing mixed-method evaluations across public health, social care, and education sectors.
Education: PhD in Philosophy (June 2020).
Key Projects: Co-Investigator on the £781,508 NIHR-funded 'PIONEER-MH' study (2025–2027), analyzing police involvement in mental health crisis responses. Collaborations include work on England’s Care Act 2014 implementation and innovative local authority public health initiatives.
Research Interests: Health inequalities mitigation, interagency collaboration in crisis management, realist evaluation methodologies, and policy-driven interventions. His work bridges academic research and practical implementation in social care and public health contexts.
