Sam Malone

Sam Malone is a Voice Tutor at the Department of Drama (Acting) within the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. He holds a Master’s in Education with a focus on Adult Learning, emphasizing the impact of shame and vulnerability on learners. His expertise integrates vocal expression techniques with psychological and educational frameworks, particularly supporting LGBTQ+ communities through his work with Gendered Intelligence. He has been mentored by prominent Canadian voice coaches including David Smukler and Dawn Marie McCaugherty, and trained at the Canadian National Voice Intensive, specializing in Opera and Musical Theatre.

Sam’s research and practice center on empowering trans and nonbinary individuals to explore vocal identity through expressive arts. His educational background in adult learning methodology informs his approach to fostering student confidence and purpose in vocal performance.
