Sam Cupples serves as a Full Time Lecturer in the Department of Financial Planning, Housing and Consumer Economics within the College of Family and Consumer Sciences at the University of Georgia, where he teaches advanced courses in wealth management and retirement planning.

- Ph.D. in Personal Financial Planning from Kansas State University (2016)
- M.B.A. in Finance from Oklahoma State University (1983)
- B.S. in Accounting from Oklahoma State University (1977)
Dr. Cupples' research centers on Behavioral Finance's impact on personal financial decision-making, with current projects examining how personality traits and risk tolerance shape financial choices. This interdisciplinary work bridges psychological theory and practical financial planning applications.
