Salvatore Cingari is a Full Professor in the Department of International Human and Social Sciences (SUSI) at Università per Stranieri di Perugia. He teaches courses such as History of Political Language, Political Thought on Globalization, and History of Italian Civilization and Political Thought across programs in International and Advertising Communication, International Relations, and Italian for Teaching Foreigners.
His research centers on the political thought of Benedetto Croce and Antonio Gramsci, the history of intellectuals, meritocratic ideology, and the crisis of democracy. He has extensively analyzed the evolution of meritocracy, culminating in his 2020 book Meritocrazia. His work also engages with neoliberalism, populism, and the historical relationship between educational institutions and political thought.
Cingari is the editor of several academic book series and serves on the editorial boards of multiple scholarly journals. He contributes to ongoing debates in political theory and intellectual history through publications and academic leadership.
