معرفی
Dr. Salvatore Blair is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biology at Winthrop University, affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences. He joined the university in 2018 and specializes in comparative fish physiology with a focus on conservation and environmental stressors. His work integrates cell/molecular biology, physiology, and ecology to address cross-disciplinary questions at cellular to population levels.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Physiology, Cell, and Developmental Biology, University of Alberta
- M.S. in Cell and Molecular Biology, Appalachian State University
- B.S. in Biology, Appalachian State University
Research Interests: Dr. Blair investigates fish gill morphology, sodium transport mechanisms, thermotolerance, and salinity tolerance in freshwater species exposed to hyper-saline environments. His research aims to inform conservation strategies for managing fish populations under anthropogenic pressures. He actively involves undergraduate and graduate students in research projects, encouraging inquiries about participation.
Teaching: Courses taught include Human Physiology, Principles of Biology, Scientific Processes in Biology, Cell and Molecular Laboratory, Ichthyology, and advanced topics in organismal and developmental biology.
Grants & Advising: While specific grants are not listed, Dr. Blair’s research aligns with conservation and environmental physiology themes. Students interested in advising or research opportunities are encouraged to contact him directly.
