Salman Habib

Salman Habib serves as Division Director for the Computational Science Division at Argonne National Laboratory, with academic affiliations as Senior Associate of the Kavli Institute for Cosmological Physics at the University of Chicago and Senior Institute Fellow at the Northwestern Argonne Institute of Science and Engineering (a joint collaboration between Argonne and Northwestern University).

Education:

• Postdoctoral: University of British Columbia (with Bill Unruh) and Los Alamos National Laboratory

His research spans cosmology, astrophysics, particle physics, quantum dynamics, and computational physics. With three decades of experience, he pioneered parallel supercomputing applications from 1990s Connection Machines to modern exascale systems. Current work focuses on advanced statistical methods and machine learning for cosmological inference using LSST and SPHEREx mission data.

He actively contributes to the Legacy Survey of Space and Time Dark Energy Science Collaboration (LSST DESC) and NASA's SPHEREx science team. Students are explicitly welcomed to contact him for research opportunities.
