Dr Sally Mann is a part-time Senior Lecturer in Sociology at the University of Greenwich, affiliated with the School of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Law, Arts and Social Sciences. Teaching since 2007, she leads core modules: Inequality and Social Formation (level 4) and Gender, Race and Crime (level 6), the latter featuring a unique experiment in deviance.
Her research interests center on social inequality, gender, race and crime, youth work, and community organizing. As an activist academic, she dedicates part of her week to community organizing and activism beyond the university, with professional expertise spanning marginalized learner education and systemic inequality.
Mann supervises final year Sociology Project and Work Placement students at Greenwich and oversees charity placements in Newham. She contributes externally to Master’s Programs in Practical Theology and Humanitarian Development while serving as a trustee for multiple charities. Her background includes curriculum development for excluded learners at Newham College of Further Education, Prince's Trust anger management training, and extensive youth work experience.
