Sallam Ahmed

Dr. Sallam Ahmed is an Associate Professor in the Department of Genetics at Assiut University, Egypt, promoted through the Scientific Excellence Track in 2019. His academic foundation includes a BSc and MSc in Genetics from Assiut University and a PhD in Plant Breeding from the University of Goettingen, Germany.

His research program targets critical agricultural challenges through advanced genomic approaches:

• Genomic selection for abiotic stress (drought, salinity) tolerance in cereals and legumes
• QTL mapping and GWAS to identify stress-resilient traits
• Genotype-environment interaction analysis in crop performance
• Molecular breeding for disease resistance in staple crops

Dr. Ahmed maintains a robust publication pipeline with multiple high-impact articles in 2024-2025, demonstrating consistent innovation in crop genomics. His work shows increasing integration of genomic tools with traditional breeding methodologies to address food security challenges in arid regions.

He received the State Encouragement Award in Agricultural Sciences (2022) and collaborates extensively with international institutions including the University of Goettingen, Qatar University, and multiple US universities. As an active supervisor, he provides graduate training in plant genetics and genomic selection techniques within Assiut University's Department of Genetics.
