Saleh Alquethamy is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in the School of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences. He is affiliated with A/Prof. Jai Tree's laboratory, focusing on developing protein and RNA aptamers to enhance peptide-nucleic acid function against bacterial infections. Previously, he earned his PhD in Biomedical Science from the University of Melbourne under Prof. Christopher McDevitt and Prof. Tim Stinear, studying Acinetobacter baumannii nutrient recognition mechanisms. His postdoctoral work in Dr. Bart Eijkelkamp's lab explored lipid roles in bacterial physiology.
Research interests include microbial resistance mechanisms, antibiotic resistance, and therapeutic strategies to combat bacterial infections. His work spans structural biology, metal transport systems, and host-pathogen interactions.
Grants include the BABS Early Career Research Grant. His office is located in Cubicle outside Rm 3113 (Biosciences South Building E26), and his lab is in Rm 3005 (same building).
