Saku Mantere is a Professor of Strategy and Organization at the Desautels Faculty of Management, McGill University, and Director of the Marcel Desautels Institute for Integrated Management. His research focuses on strategic organizations, strategic change, middle management agency, strategy discourse, and qualitative research methods. He holds degrees in engineering (D.Sci., M.Sc.) and philosophy (MA). Previously, he taught at institutions including Warwick Business School, Hanken School of Economics, and Aalto University.
Key areas of expertise include strategy process, Strategy-as-Practice, organizational change, communication, and research methods. Awards include the Best Published Paper in Organization and Management Theory (2014) and the SO!What award (2010). His work has been published in top journals like Administrative Science Quarterly and Academy of Management Review.
Mantere’s research emphasizes methodological rigor and the sociocultural dimensions of strategy. Recent work explores AI’s impact on research, ethical considerations in corporate political activity, and impasse resolution in creative processes. He leads initiatives like the Strategizing Activities and Practices (SAP) group and contributes to the Delve thought leadership platform.
