Saija Hurme is a Biostatistics Doctoral Researcher at the University of Turku's Faculty of Medicine, Department of Surgery. She contributes to high-impact clinical research in surgical outcomes, metabolic surgery, and infectious disease epidemiology through statistical analysis of randomized controlled trials and observational studies.
Her research focuses on quantifying post-surgical complications, nutritional outcomes in bariatric patients, and biomarker discovery for infectious diseases. Recent work includes validating the Swiss-Finnish Bariatric Metabolic Outcome Score and analyzing genetic factors in long-term weight loss success.
