Carsten Moro Dirksen

Carsten Moro Dirksen is a Clinical Associate Professor at the Department of Clinical Medicine, University of Copenhagen, with a dual appointment at the Capital Region of Denmark. He serves as chief physician at Copenhagen University Hospital – Hvidovre's Department of Pulmonary Diseases and Endocrinology, where he founded the Obesity and Nutrition clinic—the largest public bariatric surgery center in eastern Denmark offering both surgical and non-surgical obesity management.

His research focuses on obesity and metabolism, with specialization in bariatric surgery physiological effects (gut hormones, gastrointestinal motility, bile acid metabolism), complications (post-bariatric hypoglycemia, neuropathy), and clinical management of obesity for patients with multimorbidity or hypothalamic obesity. He is a key member of CAG SHIFT, a collaborative group providing sustainable health improvements following obesity treatment in the Capital Region of Denmark.
