Dr. Saihong Li is a Senior Lecturer in Translation and Interpreting Studies at the University of Stirling, with affiliations at Hainan Normal University (Honorary Professor) and the University of Strathclyde (Visiting Professor). Her interdisciplinary research focuses on food translation, political discourse, interpreters' mental health, and One Health frameworks. She employs digital humanities methods and collaborates globally with experts in aquaculture, nutrition, and social science. Dr. Li has led numerous programs in translation and cross-cultural studies across Britain, Denmark, and China. She serves as co-editor of Perspectives: Studies in Translation Theory and Practice and guest editor of The Translator, with editorial roles in multiple journals.
Her research interests include: 1) Food and Tourism Translation (interdisciplinary perspectives), 2) One Health (cultural and linguistic dimensions of food systems), 3) Interpreters' Mental Health (using eye-tracking, EEG, and biometrics), and 4) Political/Cultural Discourse Translation (recontextualizing narratives across cultures). She has received awards for research leadership, mentorship, and contributions to equality/diversity initiatives.
Dr. Li has delivered over 100 invited talks/keynotes worldwide and led projects funded by NERC, the British Academy, and the Carlsberg Foundation. Her editorial and review roles span publishers like Routledge and funding bodies AHRC/ESRC. She also advises NGOs like AVOICE and chairs research ethics committees.
