Saida Bondini is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florence, where she investigates the interplay between natural disasters and art production in 16th-century Italy. She also holds a position at the Italian Academy, Columbia University. Bondini earned her PhD in 2021 from the Courtauld Institute of Art and the University of Lausanne, focusing on urban and social spaces in Bologna (c. 1470-1520).

Her research spans 15th-16th century Italian art and architecture, Bologna’s urban history, architectural practices, and cultural heritage resilience against natural disasters. Funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation, her current project From Destruction to Construction explores post-catastrophe rebuilding efforts in cities between 1500-1600.
