Said Nafai

Dr. Said Nafai, OTD, MS, OTR/L, CLT is an Associate Professor of Occupational Therapy at American International College (AIC) within the School of Health Sciences. With over 15 years of clinical expertise in physical rehabilitation for adults and older adults, his practice focuses on oncology, lymphedema, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, neurorehabilitation, and dementia care. He has directed rehabilitation facilities and continues clinical work in hospitals and skilled nursing facilities.

Research Interests:

Dr. Nafai’s work emphasizes global healthcare expansion, particularly founding occupational therapy in Morocco as the “Father of OT in Morocco.” His research spans disability, physical dysfunction (geriatrics, oncology), work-related injuries, assistive technology, and telehealth applications. He has pioneered the Occupational Therapy Association of Morocco (OTAM) and chairs the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT) Arab Regional Group.

Teaching & Service:

Teaches courses in occupational science, task analysis, evidence-based practice, and program development. Leads telehealth-driven service learning projects in Morocco and advocates for person-centered dementia care through certifications in habilitation therapy and Alzheimer’s care.

His work integrates clinical practice with global advocacy, fostering partnerships between AIC and Moroccan healthcare institutions. He collaborates internationally through WFOT and AOTA to advance occupational therapy standards globally.
