Dr. Sahar Arshi is a Research Fellow at the School of Design, University of Leeds (since September 2019). Previously, she served as a KTP Associate at the University of Northumbria with Smyth’s Toys (2018–2019) and completed her PhD in Computer Science at the University of Hull. Her expertise spans Data Science, Machine Learning, Digital Fabric Tactile Characterization, Computational Creativity, and Artificial Intelligence.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Computer Science, University of Hull (2018)
- M.Sc. in Artificial Intelligence, Azad University of Tehran (2010)
- B.Sc. in Computer Software Engineering, University of Doctor Shariaty Tehran (2006)
Research Focus: Dr. Arshi specializes in developing methodologies for digital communication of fabric tactile and aesthetic properties in textile supply chains, with a focus on linking subjective touch perception to objective material properties. Her work integrates Machine Learning, Digital Signal Processing, and Computational Creativity to solve industry challenges. She previously explored computational approaches to Persian music generation during her doctoral research.
Industry Collaboration: Her KTP project with Smyth’s Toys demonstrates her ability to bridge academic research with commercial applications.
