Sahana Ghosh is an Assistant Professor of Anthropology at the National University of Singapore. Her research focuses on borders, gendered economies of mobility, security, and citizenship, particularly along the India-Bangladesh border. She received the 2019 Sardar Patel Dissertation Award for her work on borderland orders, which examines the socio-political impacts of militarization and transnational flows. Her book A Thousand Tiny Cuts: Mobility and Security Across the India-Bangladesh Borderlands, based on her doctoral research, is forthcoming with University of California Press. Her work combines ethnography and feminist methodologies to explore how gendered identities and security regimes shape everyday life in border regions.
Educated at Yale University, where she completed her Ph.D. in 2018, Ghosh’s research bridges anthropology, political science, and gender studies. Her writings and photo essays on inequality, policing, and migration have been published in academic and public platforms. Her current projects continue to interrogate the intersections of security, mobility, and gender in borderlands across South Asia.
