Amrita Ghosh

Amrita Ghosh, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of South Asian Literature in the Department of English at the University of Central Florida. She specializes in Postcolonial literature and theory, with a focus on Partition narratives, border studies, and gender dynamics. Previously, she held roles at Lund University’s South Asian Center (SASNET) and Linnaeus University, researching Kashmiri literature and conflict representation. Her work bridges literary analysis with critical theory, examining themes like colonial violence, nation-state critiques, and cultural hybridity.

Dr. Ghosh earned her Ph.D. in Postcolonial Literature from Drew University, focusing on Partition literature and border narratives. She held a fellowship at Cornell University’s Critical Theory School. Her monograph on Kashmiri literature is forthcoming, alongside co-editing Tagore and Yeats: A Postcolonial Reenvisioning (2022). Her research spans South Asian and global postcolonial contexts, emphasizing marginalized voices and interdisciplinary approaches.

Her articles explore topics such as neo-colonial violence in literature, the interplay between social media and empathy in crises, and cinematic representations of Africa. Her work frequently intersects with themes of cultural memory, power dynamics, and the politics of representation. She has contributed to discussions on gender agency in post-Partition Pakistan and the ethical dimensions of refugee narratives.

Dr. Ghosh’s scholarship reflects a commitment to reimagining postcolonial studies through comparative frameworks, such as her analyses of Rabindranath Tagore and W.B. Yeats. Her current projects continue to interrogate the intersections of literature, empire, and global cultural flows.
