Safoura Moeeni is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Manitoba (Faculty of Arts, Canada). She holds a PhD in Economics (University of Calgary, 2019) and has prior academic experience at the University of Regina and Mount Allison University.

Dr. Moeeni is an empirical microeconomist specializing in Labor Economics, Economics of the Family, and Development Economics. Her work examines how labor market changes intersect with household decisions, particularly focusing on gender dynamics, including child penalty, parental leave, and gender quotas in education and employment.
Her recent publications analyze gender-based labor market barriers in Iran, intergenerational effects of sanctions, and household bargaining power. Methodologically, she combines design-based and model-based empirical approaches.
