Dr. Saeri Cho Dobson is a Professor of Graphic Design at Loyola Marymount University (LMU), where she has taught for over a decade. She emphasizes using design for social justice and community impact, aligning with LMU’s commitment to service. Her educational background includes a BFA in Communication Design from Parsons School of Design, an MFA from Art Center College of Design, and an Ed.D in Educational Leadership from California State University, Los Angeles (2021).
Dr. Dobson pioneered the interdisciplinary course ART 395: Design Entrepreneurship, where students collaborate to create socially responsible products. Notable projects include Sweet Saviors (glucose strips for diabetic children) and solar-powered chargers for homeless populations. She also runs Hope by SaeRi, a company selling tote bags to fund education for marginalized girls in Bangladesh, partnering with Speak Up for the Poor.
Her recent COLA Artists-in-Residence Grant supported workshops for adults with intellectual disabilities and an exhibition showcasing student projects. She aims to expand her social initiatives to Cambodia, India, and Thailand.
