Dr. Sadig Aghazada is an Assistant Professor with Tenure Track in Inorganic Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry and Pharmacy, University of Bern, since March 2025. He leads a research group focused on reactive intermediates in transition metal chemistry.
- High School: Baku, Azerbaijan (2008)
- MSc equivalent: Lomonosov Moscow State University (2013)
- PhD: École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) under M. Kh. Nazeeruddin and M. Grätzel (2018)
- Postdoctoral training: Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg (2018–2021) and ETH Zurich (2021–2022)
- Habilitation: Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg (2023–2025)
His research targets the isolation and characterization of highly reactive intermediates in 3d transition metal systems, with applications in novel chemical transformations and catalysis. The group employs advanced techniques to elucidate electronic structures and develop sustainable synthetic strategies.
Current team members include doctoral students Manish Kumar, Jincan Li, and Xinyan Zhou, supported by Research Group Secretariat Beatrice Niederhauser.
He is affiliated with the German Chemical Society and collaborates with prominent researchers such as Karsten Meyer, Christophe Copéret, and Dominik Munz.
