Dr. Sadegh Balotf is a Research Fellow in Molecular Plant Pathology at the University of Southern Queensland's Centre for Crop Health. His work focuses on understanding plant-pathogen interactions, particularly involving the protozoan pathogen Spongospora subterranea and wheat pathogens. He holds a PhD from The Australian National University (Tas), following BSc (Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman) and MSc (Shiraz University) degrees.
Research Interests: His studies emphasize proteomic and transcriptomic analyses to dissect resistance mechanisms in plants against pathogens. Key areas include:
- Pathogen-host interaction dynamics
- Mechanisms of fungal and oomycete infection
- Genetic dissection of abiotic stress tolerance in crops
- Molecular basis of plant immunity
Publications Highlight: Recent work explores Spongospora zoospore attachment mechanisms, wheat frost tolerance QTLs, and multi-omics approaches in plant pathology. Articles often integrate proteomic data with genomic and phenotypic observations to identify key resistance pathways.
Labs/Teams: Collaborates within the Centre for Crop Health, focusing on crop disease management and molecular diagnostics. Affiliated with the National Plant Biosecurity Diagnostic Network (NPBDN Australia).
